Paper's memory

(extracts)

My parents kept everything for economic reasons or because they were anxious about war. I must have inherited this trait from them. I like to keep things by attachment, but mainly because of my poor memory and especially owing to lack of memory. Objects recall the moments spent with them. Just like songs they mark out time.

Yet, I prefer to photograph papers, all kinds of papers. Old pictures, postcards, small drawings randomly, antics calligraphy, copybooks and notebooks. It is a way to be closer to them - to question them, and even perhaps to own them in a way.
